Christmas Lights Displays at the Lake of the Ozarks!

Christmas is undoubtedly one of the busiest and most magical times of the year. Gifts pile up underneath Christmas trees, homes fill with wonderful smells of baking cookies, and kids' eyes grow brighter and brighter with dreams of Santa's great journey. It's a time for reconnecting with family, making memories, and reveling in the joy and the magic that is this wonderful Christmas season.

The Lake of the Ozarks is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places to spend your Christmas season. The lights on the docks, the Christmas lights on the roofs, and the lights in the eyes of all the people light up our community in a way that is truly wonderful to behold. These aren't the only ways the Lake of the Ozarks is lighting up this holiday season, though! The team at Bulldog's Beach House took it upon themselves to put together a list of the most fabulous light displays at the Lake of the Ozarks. This is one of the largest drive-through holiday light parks in mid-Missouri. Enjoy a beautiful Christmas lights display like you've never before seen! You and your family are welcome to drive through for free, but they always appreciate donations.

Versailles Unity Circle of Lights
City Park in Versailles, Missouri
November 27, 2014 - January 1, 2015
Open nightly from dark-midnight
For the eighth year in a row, Versailles is lighting up its city park every night from dark until midnight. The holiday light park gets its name from the "Unity Circle" monument at the entrance of the park, which represents cooperation among the different entities in the community. Admission is free.

St. Patrick's Festival of Lights
Shrine of St. Patrick's / Mother's Shrine in Laurie, Missouri
November 27, 2014 - January 1, 2015
Open nightly from 6:00-10:00 PM
Started in 1981, this is the oldest light park in the Lake of the Ozarks area. This light display focuses on the religious origins of Christmas, specifically Jesus and Mother Mary. Admission is free.

Welcome to Bulldog's Beach House!

Picture this:

It's July of 2005. Tourists flock to the Lake of the Ozarks, looking for a place on the water to get a bite to eat, relax, and have a great time. The only problem is... Bulldog's Beach House hasn't been born yet!

Introducing... Bulldog's Beach House!

Bulldog's Beach House began as a dream - a dream that turned into a reality in 2006. Owner "Bulldog" Benedick and his wife, Staci, bought Tequilaville in 2006 and finally got to work setting up their brand new business. Since 2006, Bulldog's has been a favorite waterfront destination at the Lake of the Ozarks every single summer!

We serve the best food at the Lake of the Ozarks - and that's a promise we intend to keep! Bulldog's offers delicious sandwiches, sides, salads, and appetizers that continually delight our customers. We're also home to the famous stuffed burgers at the Lake of the Ozarks - magnificent creations that you have to see to believe!

Halloween Party AND Closing Party at Bulldog's!

Ladies and gentlemen, it's finally here... Bulldog's Beach House is getting ready to close for the 2014 season. It's been one heck of an amazing summer and none of us are ready to see it go, but it appears that you truly can't stop time. (Trust us, we've tried!)

11 Things You Didn't Know About English Bulldogs

It's common knowledge that a man by the name of Bulldog Benedick owns the best waterfront restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks, and it's no surprise that all of us at Bulldog's Beach House have a special soft spot in our hearts for adorable four-legged friends - ESPECIALLY bulldogs. We're sure most of our customers are fans of these fantastic dogs, but how much do you really know about our namesake? In this blog, the Lake's best restaurant is here to bring you the best (and most outrageous) fun facts about bulldogs!

The English bulldog breed dates back to before the sixteenth century.

Bulldogs are the most popular mascot for universities and sports teams - and for our restaurant!

Leonardo DiCaprio, Reese Witherspoon, David Beckham, Ashley Olsen, Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, and Martha Stewart have all owned at least one bulldog.

Due to their large heads, bulldogs are almost always delivered via Cesarean section.

English bulldogs are natural skateboarders! If given access to a skateboard as puppies, most English bulldogs will learn how to ride them with incredible ease.

Some bulldogs have become famous for their skateboarding capabilities. Tillman, Tyson, Bazooka, Chief, and Vegas have all become big names in the skateboarding bulldogs circuit.

Bulldogs were originally bread to be fierce and aggressive so they could help with bull baiting in England. Now, they are bred to be friendly and loyal companions.

English bulldogs are descended from mastiffs.

President Warren Harding owned a bulldog.

The first bulldog club was established in 1874, and the first bulldog to be registered was named Adam.

Contrary to popular belief, Winston Churchill did not own a bulldog.

Fall Harbor Hop is BACK!

The Lake of the Ozarks' best biannual event is finally here again! This Saturday, Bulldog's Beach House is thrilled to participate in the 29th Annual Fall Harbor Hop. If you're looking for something fun to do, join us on Saturday, October 11th for a great day on the water.

Here's How It Works
Harbor Hop is essentially a lake-wide poker game! Visit any of the participating checkpoints (like the best waterfront restaurant at the Lake: Bulldog's!) to register and pick up your first card.

Draw six additional cards by visiting other participating locations around the Lake of the Ozarks. Once you pick up your seventh card, you can submit your hand at that checkpoint. (If you want, you can draw a bonus eighth card for $5!)

All poker hands must be submitted by 7:00 PM. Winners will be notified via mail.

Here's What You Can WIN!
When players register and pick up their first cards, they can pay an optional $20. All the money collected at the beginning will go towards the pot! The prizes will be allocated as follows:

1st Place ~ 10%
2nd Place ~ 9%
3rd Place ~ 8%
4th Place ~ 7%
5th-10th Place ~ 5% each
4 Worst Hands ~ 2% each

If you draw all your cards from checkpoints in the same section, you can also be eligible to be a section winner! Check out www.funlake.com/harborhop for the full list of participating locations and their sections.

Bulldog's Hillbilly Bar Olympics!!

Break out your coveralls, your denim, your flannel, your plaid, and your ratty white tanks! Bulldog's Beach House is bringing you our famous Hillbilly Bar Olympics on Saturday, September 13th. Games, costumes, prizes, drink specials, and more await you at this hilarious, high-energy event at the Lake of the Ozarks' best waterfront restaurant and bar.

The Games!

Think you have what it takes to be the next hillbilly champion? Try your hand at the lively games we have in store for you! Here's a sneak peek at some of our favorites.

Ladder Golf
Each team will get a set of golf ball bolas (two golf balls attached by a rope). Opponents will face off in front of a ladder with three tiers. The object of the game is to throw your bolas in such a way that they wrap around the tiers of the ladder - the higher, the better!

Toilet Paper Toss
Toss your dignity out the window! The object of this game is to throw toilet paper into a toilet seat mounted on a stand several feet away. It's simple enough... Or is it?

Cornhole

Cornhole is one of the most well-known and well-loved outdoor games around. In a standard game of cornhole, players try to toss beanbags in a small hole in a board that is propped up on a slight incline. We do things a little differently at Bulldog's, though; instead of beanbags, we'll be tossing real corn!

Players will earn points during each of the games played. At the end of the day, the players with the most points will be awarded prizes!

Start time will depend on when we have enough participants, so come early and stay late to be sure you won't miss out on any of the fun.
Don't forget to bring your dancin' shoes. The Boomchucks will be here at 6:30 to hang out with us as well. They've promised plenty of hillbilly-friendly live music!
Costumes are encouraged! Dress up in your finest hillbilly garb and join us for one of the best events at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Saturday, September 6th: Taz & Frankie
This dynamic pair is the Lake of the Ozarks' true "Real Rock" duo. This high-energy team relocated to the Lake of the Ozarks in 2010 after spending 4.5 years performing in clubs and shows in Branson, Missouri. They've caused quite a scene at the Lake since their arrival, producing dizzying performance after dizzying performance. They have toured extensively throughout the U.S., and now they're coming right here to Bulldog's Beach House!!

Thursday, September 11th: The Boomchux
The Boomchux have been a Lake of the Ozarks favorite for the last several years. With great energy and song choices as varied as your imagination, this talented band promises a performance that will leave you wanting more!

Saturday, September 27: Shawn C

The Lake of the Ozarks' own musical prodigy, Shawn C began playing guitar and piano when he was only eleven years old. Now a seasoned performer at eighteen, this talented musician delivers an outstanding performance every time. Come close out the season with Shawn C at Bulldog's!

Watch The Shootout at Bulldog's!

If you think there are only three major summer holidays at the Lake of the Ozarks, think again! The Shootout has been unofficially adopted as the summer's fourth major holiday. Bulldog's Beach House is ready to celebrate, and we want YOU to join us!

The Shootout is filled with all kinds of amazing events all week long, culminating in a high speed race that will leave you breathless with excitement. You can view the full schedule of events here, but the big races will take place on Sunday, August 24th.
